The History

Growing up as a  "big-boned" kid with a big appetite, I loved my mom’s home cooked meals more than anything else in the world. Her usual menu consisted of a combination of traditional Korean dishes that she had learned from her hometown and a little bit of Guamanian culture, where my brother and I were born. When we moved to Southern California, my love for food eventually grew into an obsession with cooking; around the time I moved out and began the college life, the first thing I learned to do was to cook for myself, and boy did I get creative. Learning how to marinade my meats was the first thing I added to my list of culinary skills, specifically, I wanted to learn how to make traditional Korean bulgogi (pronounced bool-goh-gi). Throughout the years the recipe for bulgogi would go through improvements, I would use traditional methods while also putting my own spin on the recipe. This obsession would eventually blossom into a little project called Los Coreanos, a place where I would be able to share my cooking with anyone who cares to try them.
